29th Annual USS CONSTITUTION Model Shipwright Guild Exhibit at the USS Constitution Museum

BOSTON – Members of the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild will display their finest work in hopes of capturing the spotlight during the 29th Annual Exhibit running from Tuesday, February 5 through Saturday, March 8 at the USS Constitution Museum. Admission to the Museum and the exhibit are free and donations are encouraged. The Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Visitors will see over 90 different model ships created by New England modelers. The models include World War II vessels, fishing dories, ships-in-bottles, sailing vessels and several Union and Confederate naval vessels. Each year visitors to the show are invited to vote for their favorite ship model. Visitors may also watch modelers in action in the Museum’s Model Shop and ask questions about their work.

The USS
Constitution Model Shipwright Guild encourages the art of constructing model ships and supports research in nautical history through its workshops, educational activities, and exhibits. It is the largest ship model association on the East Coast with over 100 members. The Guild meets on the first Tuesday of every month and encourages those who are interested to attend their meeting at the USS Constitution Museum, or visit the Guild’s website at www.constitution-modelshipwrights.org

During
February School Vacation Week the Museum will offer free craft activities and hands-on maritime fun for younger visitors on Wednesday February 20th through Saturday February 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The USS Constitution Museum is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard, directly across from USS
Constitution, and offers the largest gift shop on the Freedom Trail. The USS Constitution Museum is a nonprofit, educational institution whose mission is to serve as the memory and educational voice of USS Constitution, by collecting, preserving, and interpreting the stories of “Old Ironsides” and the people associated with her. The Museum is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. For more information, call the Museum at 617-426-1812 or visit our website at www.ussconstitutionmuseum.org.
