Old Ironsides Across the Nation

USS CONSTITUTION fought for and belongs to the citizens of every state of our nation. All Americans deserve to learn the story of one of our nation’s most cherished and enduring symbols. Because the Ship remains in the safety of Massachusetts Bay, some citizens are unable to experience firsthand the spirit of "Old Ironsides."

To provide greater access to the lessons of USS CONSTITUTION, the USS Constitution Museum and the U.S. Navy collaborate on a national outreach program called "Old Ironsides" Across the Nation. This program promotes renewed national support for, and dedication to, USS CONSTITUTION and the American ideals of freedom and democracy she exemplifies.

In each city visited, "Old Ironsides" Across the Nation features classroom visits, teacher workshops, public and civic presentations, media coverage, and family-friendly weekend activities, all offered with no admission charge. This past academic year, "Old Ironsides" Across the Nation visited San Antonio, Texas and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During the 2007-2008 academic year, "Old Ironsides" Across the Nation visited Topeka, Kansas in late-January and early-February. Click here to read the press release.
