Built: Portsmouth, New Hampshire

1800   Quasi-war with France, escorted American merchant ships to the East Indies. Returned to U.S. for repairs and proceeded to the West Indies and Santo Domingo.
   
1801   Returned to Boston and placed in ordinary at Washington Navy Yard, D.C.
   
1804   Barbary War, deployed to Mediterranean under the command of Captain John Rogers. Remained on station for 11 months. Returned to the United States with the Tunisian Ambassador to the United States.
   
1805–1811   In ordinary at Washington Navy Yard, D.C.
   
1811   Recommissioned and under the command of John Smith.
   
1812   War of 1812. Assigned to Commodore John Rogers' squadron, patrolling the North Atlantic. During her second cruise captures 9 prizes.
   
1813   Cruised off the Cape Verde Islands and the coast of Brazil, captured 4 prizes. Returned to Portsmouth, New Hampshire for repairs and remained blockaded for the rest of the war.
   
1822–1823   Deployed to the West Indies. Transported American Ministers to Spain and Argentine Republic.
   
1824   In ordinary at Norfolk Navy Yard, Virginia.
   
1829   Receiving ship at Norfolk Navy Yard, Virginia.
   
1834   Survey by the Navy Commissioner deemed USS Congress unfit for repair. Ordered the ship broken up at the Norfolk Navy Yard, Virginia.
